Performance
Every Jeep model is designed with a heritage of off-road prowess in mind, including the 2018 Compass. The available Jeep Active Drive four-wheel drive system works with selectable terrain modes with traction control to get impressive grip in tough situations. The standard 2.4-liter Tigershark MiltiAir engine pushes 180 horsepower to the wheels through a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission. The Compass is good for 2,000 pounds of towing.
Safety
The 2018 Compass is reinforced by high-strength steel and comes with seven standard airbags. Beyond that, active technology helps mitigate accidents. Systems like LaneSense, Forward Collision Warning, and Active Braking monitor the road. They can give alerts and, if needed, provide automatic input to help avoid crashes.Â
Exterior
The exterior of the Compass uses classic Jeep styling cues to great effect. Along with the seven-slot grille, It's similar in stance and profile to the larger Grand Cherokee. The Limited and Trailhawk trims come with an available black roof. LED running lights add sophistication, while the Trailhawk trim's extra off-roading goodies and black hood add ruggedness to the design. Sport trim models come with standard black wheels.
Interior
The interior of the 2018 Compass is a pleasant place to be. Either durable cloth or supple leather adorns bolstered seats in the front and back. Among other technologies, the available Uconnect system gives access to apps, communication, navigation, and more. The rear seats fold flat for useful cargo space, and the rear cargo floor reconfigures for flexible stowing.
